The Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center offers local teens and adolescents a unique opportunity during the summer for community service and exploration of early childhood education careers or experience in an environment of commitment and responsibility. The annual Junior Volunteer program is for young adults age 12 through 16 who are willing to be a part of the day-to-day activities of a busy children’s museum.
Positions are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications must be completed and returned to the Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center office by May 25, 2018. Those accepted will be required to attend a training session from June 5 – 8, 2018, from
9:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The fee for the educational training will be $100.00, which will include a Jr. Volunteer t-shirt and daily lunch and snack the week of training. Upon completion of the training session, each participant will be issued a certificate and will become an L.C.D.C. Certified Volunteer. Volunteers will be expected to participate throughout the summer, but the L.C.D.C. will work around vacation and family schedules.
All hours are recorded, and may be used for community service requirements for school organizations.
